2008: Joseph the Carpenter

This ornament is 16th in the popular Heart of Christmas sterling series. It features Joseph embracing Mary and the infant Jesus, looking heavenward. So often, Joseph is the forgotten man of Christmas, yet I think he must have asked the same questions many of us do as we consider the miracle of Christmas: "How can God have chosen to send his Son into the care of an earthly couple and into an earthly home?" Joseph's obedience to God's call in his life, despite his questions and inevitable doubts, iis, at its essence, the heart of Christmas.
